The client

The Farmers Insurance Open is a PGA TOUR stop run by the Century Club of San Diego at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, drawing about 33,000 fans a year. The tournament dates to 1952 and has played the city-owned Torrey Pines courses since 1968. The South Course has twice hosted the U.S. Open, Tiger Woods in 2008 and Jon Rahm in 2021.

The challenge

Access, cashless, credentialing, and registration all had to run as one coordinated operation for a 33,000-person crowd spread across a 36-hole municipal course.

Our approach

We grew an NTR-6 portal wall from 33 to 41 units with handhelds on wrstSCN, ran TAP-4 devices for wrstPOS concessions and wrstREG self-service registration, and produced RFID credentials through Manifest on five ZC10L printers.

The results

WRSTBND has run access, payments, credentialing, and registration in parallel for ~33,000 attendees year over year, scaling the portal count and adding self-service registration as the event grew.
