The client

The Gretna Heritage Festival is a three-day music and food celebration on the historic West Bank of the Mississippi, just across the river from New Orleans. Founded in 1994, it has grown from a small neighborhood gathering into one of Jefferson Parish’s largest festivals, taking over the streets of Old Gretna with national headliners (over the years acts like the Beach Boys, Chicago, Brooks & Dunn, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and ZZ Top) across multiple stages, with proceeds supporting local, state, and national charities.

The challenge

A 25-block downtown festival drawing nearly 60,000 people has to move crowds through gates and keep dozens of food and drink vendors selling cash-free.

Our approach

We ran 24 NTR-6 portals and handhelds on wrstSCN for gated access, stood up 64 TAP-4 terminals for wrstPOS cashless, and handled will-call through wrstREG box office stations: one RFID wristband across entry, payments, and registration.

The results

WRSTBND has grown alongside the festival from roughly 45,000 attendees at the start of the partnership to 59,000 in 2025, provisioning 58,400 RFID wristbands, handling fulfillment, and running 64 cashless terminals across the venue.
